How we help
Understanding. Opportunity. Belonging.
Families come to CHILD SPARKS for different reasons and at different stages. Some are looking for information after noticing differences in their child's development. Some are waiting for assessment. Some are dealing with difficulties at school or trying to understand what support may be available. Others simply want to meet parents who understand their experience.
Our role is not to replace the NHS, education services or specialist professionals. We help families understand options, build confidence, connect with other families and find appropriate sources of support.

Parent & carer support
Parents and carers are at the centre of CHILD SPARKS. We create spaces where people can ask questions, share experience, learn from professionals and from one another, and feel less isolated. Support can include English and Tamil sessions, parent learning, peer support and practical information.
Workshops & learning
Workshops and learning sessions are designed to make useful information easier to understand and apply in everyday family life. Topics may include neurodevelopment, communication, education, behaviour, family wellbeing and navigating services. Where external professionals contribute, their role should be made clear.

Children, sport & family activities
Children's activities, sport, family days and outings create opportunities for participation, enjoyment, confidence and connection. We aim to make activities welcoming and inclusive, recognising that children can have different communication, sensory and support needs.
English & Tamil support
English and Tamil support helps make shared learning, peer support and practical information more accessible to families within our community.
Finding the right support
Families do not always know where to go next. CHILD SPARKS can help people understand possible routes and signpost to appropriate clinical, educational, social care and community services. We do not claim to provide diagnosis, medical treatment, speech therapy, occupational therapy or behavioural therapy unless a specific service is formally commissioned and delivered by appropriately qualified professionals.
Information, resources & community awareness
We share practical resources, raise community awareness and work with professionals, schools and organisations to strengthen understanding and support for families.
